Learn to Paint Watercolors In Just 20 Minutes a Day

I have been painting for 6 months. Emily is the third person I have paid for tutorials. Hers have been the best and I’ve been here going on 3 months. I plan to be here a while because there are so many more projects I want to complete with her. I love her calm and professional approach to teaching! I have definitely sharped my skills under Emily’s guidance.

I used to find it difficult to get started..now that my skills are improving I can hardly wait to get to the paints. When I look at anything now I hear Emily’s voice telling what to look for and I am seeing so much more in my world. I love the sharing of our work and the group is so positive and supportive.

I have spent the past 2+ years watching SO many of your tutorials and have learned beyond what I thought was possible! Now I’ve been able to take what I’ve learned and can complete my own paintings from pictures or drawings. It’s such a relaxing and lovely time to paint and I owe it all to you mostly for making it so easy to learn the techniques and the supplies. And a huge THANK YOU for supplying the outline for the times when i just want to get right to painting and ALSO showing your drawing process for when I’m challenging myself with my drawing skills as well. Many artists don’t always do that or both and i just wanted you to know how important and awesome it is. Thank you for sharing all of your talent and time to teach others in this way that allows for us to unlock our own abilities and joy.

Before this course I struggled finding subjects that were appropriate for my skill level so I would try something and fail miserably, get discouraged and quit painting. Not that I paint so much better yet (I still have ugly results sometimes) but I make beautiful paintings sometimes and more and more often as time goes along. I practice regularly on the daily challenges. I’m better able to assess whether a subject is too much for me or not, so when I try something on my own. I’m able to have success (or get myself out of a “painting pinch”). I’ve made adorable handmade greeting cards for friends and family and have started to enjoy my retirement more and more every day. I’ve grown as a person by not expecting myself to be perfect all the time, giving myself the grace I’d give to others and feel okay about it. Life is too short not to be happy and watercolors have made me a happier person. This self-paced painting class has turned into so much more, like a self-esteem class!!

I’m really enjoying Emily’s tutorials. I think she’s a great teacher for all levels of students. I consider myself an intermediate watercolor artist who mostly focused on portraits prior to joining her classes. She has helped me to get better at certain techniques such as blending and brush techniques such as using a wet clean brush along with your color brush to blend. She puts out great tutorials nearly everyday and her voice is very easy to listen to and understand. She has a great library of subjects to learn from and I’m very happy with my decision to join her classes.

After a long break from painting I decided to concentrate on a more realistic style in watercolor and challenged myself to practising every day for a whole year, so when I found Watercolor Mastery I knew this was exactly what I had been looking for. Emily Olson is an amazing artist and teacher with a friendly personality, and I enjoy her structured, calm way of teaching as well as all her tutorials, offering a wide range of subjects for all skill levels. The results are surprisingly good and I can see the progress in my own work after a few months already. Without Watercolor Mastery, I would never have pushed my boundaries on my own to a degree I would never have dreamed of when I started. I am very grateful for this possibility and am looking forward to walking many more brushmiles with Emily Olson!
