As an artist living in Boulder, Colorado, lover of the outdoors, and all things watercolor, our founder/CEO Emily Olson wanted to share the joy of painting watercolors with the world.
A note from Emily:
Being a busy wife and mom of 2 wonderful (but needy) kiddos, I’m constantly aware of how difficult it can be to find time to paint (and have it actually be relaxing).
What I realized in my own learning journey, was that when I was able to just sit down and paint without thinking about it I had the most fun and got the best results.
Something about not having to try SOOO dang hard on each painting, but just enjoying the process, made it way more enjoyable.
After starting my watercolor YouTube channel and having students ask for further instruction, I realized there wasn’t really a good watercolor program that emphasized this kind of simple “no pressure, just paint” teaching style.
And so, I decided to create my own. And Watercolor Mastery was born.
I’ve now had the privilege of teaching thousands of students the joy of watercolors with my simple progression-based approach and am continually humbled by their results.
I mix, color-wash and brush my heart into every Watercolor Mastery tutorial. I make sure that every project we release is accessible and gives everything needed to craft an amazing piece of art. And, most importantly, that every tutorial brings out the fun and individuality of you, the artist.
