Nope! While you certainly can do your own sketch, you don’t need to because I provide a sketch with EVERY watercolor project!
You simply print out my sketch and trace it onto your watercolor paper. (I show you every step of the process inside the “Getting Started” module)

There is a complete list of supplies used in each tutorial in the description of every video. If you do not have the exact paper, paints, brushes, etc. that’s OK!
Just use what you have available and try to use colors that are close. I recommend following the “30 Days to Watercolor” tutorial to help you understand your paint colors.
Invest in good quality paper and one or two nice brushes and you’ll be all set!

Without Watercolor Mastery, I would never have been able to figure it out smooth transition of paint without unwanted water marks. Hopefully, I master this skill through daily challenge practices and tips. Also identify where the lights/highlights are before do anything and leave these areas. These highlights make the painting more realistic. I have been enjoying Emily’s short beginners’ classes and learn techniques while painting simple, cute, and sometimes very interesting subjects. I joined Watercolor Mastery about a week ago. I’m actually surprised I’ve gone this long without hearing about it but I’m so glad I did! I’ve been painting with watercolor for about 4 years. I have all the fancy supplies that I purchased in hopes I’d be able to paint like the artists I’d seen using them. I’ve done classes on YouTube, skillshare, domestika, craftsy, Artefacto school and more. Despite ALL these classes I STILL STRUGGLE to look at a reference of my choosing and paint something I can be proud of let alone use my imagination for a painting. I prefer a painterly look with just enough detail to look realistic and every time i try a painting outside of a class or tutorial i feel like a fraud and get more discouraged. Despite all the practice and knowledge I’ve gained over the years I’ve not been able to be successful at MY OWN artwork. I can do a beautiful painting from a class though. I’m still trying to find the disconnect. And so far, I’m really hopeful that I’ve found the place for me to break out of the tutorial rut I’ve been in and actually learn to paint on my own. I love Emily’s instructions and encouragement to use what you have. I also love than Emily does a little of everything from portraits to landscapes to still life and more. This program is going to help me be a well rounded painter and give me the confidence to take all that I’ve learned to figure out who I am as a painter on my own.
