I am a complete newbie to water colors. I am very familiar with oils but when I tried to to watercolor it was a fail on my part. I saw your mastery class and thought it looked good. I am about halfway through the 30 day challenge and so far I love it. You are such a great teacher. The only thing I have a problem with is choosing the colors you suggest! I don’t know the color names yet so I’m guessing. I know that is not good practice but I’m trying not to let it be a problem. Do you have suggestions for learning them. I bought a much bigger pallet than needed I think so I think that is confusing me. All in all, thank you for starting me on my journey to learn something I have always wanted to do!
Emily is a wonderful teacher, her camera positioning allows you to see exactly what she is doing while providing an excellent explanation of what is happening.
I love Watercolor Mastery. I have learned so many techniques to help my paintings look like I want them to look. I love the daily challenges to keep me practicing regularly. There are options such as line drawings to download if the drawings are more complicated, but also great instruction on drawing what you see in a photo. There are so many other resources as well, such as recommended paper, brushes, paints, and a multitude of video lessons. I started in mid February and have already filled one sketchbook and working on the next. For years I’ve been saying, “One day I’m going to start painting,” but now I’m actually doing it and having so much fun!

I am a pet and portrait artist, and am trying Emily’s pet palette for colors on my recent commission. It’s refreshing and interesting. Also love Emily’s supply list, and I’m going to do the beginner exercises and challenges to keep my skills up! I love how the platform is organized.
Though I’ve dabbled in many art forms, and even a little watercolor, I didn’t start really trying to learn watercolor until January 2024. Since joining Emily at Watercolor Mastery I feel that I’ve grown leaps and bounds in a very short time (three months now), even reaching the point that I’ve taken what I’ve learned to start creating my own paintings without the help of a tutorial. I post every painting, good or bad, to my FaceBook page and have received encouraging response from family, friends and acquaintances. I find Emily’s teaching style to be thorough, relaxed, approachable and fun. Her attitude and mindset help us to leave behind perfectionism and judgments, and to develop our own courageous artist within. Not every artist can teach, but Emily is a talented teacher as well as a fabulous and encouraging artist.
