I have been following you on YouTube for a while. While watching recent video, something clicked and signed up. Will attempt doing daily challenges during the 30 days. You have to do it. Fun!
I’ve felt that my skills that have grown most over the last two months of lessons have had to do with being reminded that my work doesn’t have to be perfect and to quit spending so much time on details. I’m getting better at better analyzing an image I would like to paint in terms of shapes, composition and lighting. So far, the most important thing that I have learned is how to give myself permission to set aside time to paint. I am elderly, my husband has Parkinson’s Disease and we have five nearby grandchildren so time is tricky. I often felt that I was being selfish to take time to paint. Without Watercolor Mastery, I would never have had the coaching and video tutorials that encourage me to progress. I’ve taken drawing and watercolor painting classes on and off throughout my life and this one is the best.
How have my skills grown?
It is early to tell, I’ve just been doing this a little over a week, but I’m up to 14 tutorials! I think I am certainly learning how to layer with watercolor and of course brush time to paper is always a good thing for repition, shape building, values, etc.
What is the most important thing I’ve learned so far?
I don’t know if it’s “learning” or just “confidence boosting” But I feel more confident using watercolors, and being more allowed to be playful. I think the guidance is very easy to follow, clear direction on color mixing, what you’re doing, why you’re doing it….top teacher award for sure!
Without Watercolor Matsery, I would never have been able to….
feel as confident as I do in learning how to paint with watercolors.
Also side note, it’s ignited this excitement in me, and I just love the daily challenges, they are quick and totally doable! I work from home and find it hard to transition from “stop working” to being “Mom” and household chores and sports obligations. I’ve been using the quick tutorials of 20 minutes to help me transiton from Work, to me time/unwind/release, then go upstairs and put on the Mom duties. It’s helped already for just the mental/therapeutic aspect.
